I’ve spent the last four days in our nation’s capital networking with some of Canada’s finest nuclear minds. All the hard work (and hours!) that had me a little last week were worth it.
We launched our new company branding, my execs had productive meetings and I furthered many relationships – all while having a lot of fun. We had some uplifting and educational speakers and I’m pleased to say my own boss was among them, judging by the comments I received after his speech. Communications was mentioned many times as very important in my industry, so that bodes well for me.
This conference happens every year in February in Ottawa and an added side-bonus this year was spending some time with my eldest son, who is at school there now. We had dinner, skated the length of the Rideau Canal (and back) and grabbed a quick lunch after I filled a bag full of leftover nuclear swag (with maybe a few extra dollars to help with the last couple of months of school).
All in all, a very productive week.
I’m in the air, writing this, on my way home, with tired feet and a an exhausted mind. I’m thrilled that I don’t know the gentleman to my right and that there’s no expectation of conversation. I’ve done more than my share of being “on” for a while and am looking forward to a quiet weekend. There may be household chores to do and a family to tend to, but the idea of few social interactions is just what I need to recharge my batteries.
So to all I owe emails, phone calls and texts to, don’t worry. I’ll get back to you. But just maybe not this weekend…!
