How to Drink, Swear, Steal, Gamble, Cheat, Kill and Lie Your Way to Success!

There is a plethora of information available on the subjects of purpose, destiny, and success.  I’ve studied all the best, from, Covey, Maxwell, Peters, Ziglar…and just about everyone in between!  However, as daunting a task as, finding your purpose or discovering your destiny may seem, I’ve learned a few secrets along the way to help distill the discovery process down to its most basic elements.   Oh, sure my title is a bit disconcerting…considering that taking action could potentially lead to corruption, moral, decay, and imprisonment – LOL!  But, don’t worry, I’m confident, that your life will benefit from these transformative power principles.

#1 Power Principle – DRINK

I think it was a televangelist who first coined the phrase, “Your miracle is either coming towards you or past you every day.”  Religious connotations aside, there is a lot of truth to that statement.  Opportunities are either coming towards you or past you every moment of your life.  The question is, are you in a position to recognize and take advantage of the opportunities as they are presented?  The reality of Power Principle #1 is that in order to pursue your purpose and fulfill your destiny, you first need to learn how to…DRINK in every opportunity the day presents.

#2 Power Principle – SWEAR

There is an amazing phenomena that happens whenever the human mind resolves to pursue a certain end, especially in the face of desperation or challenge.  It’s as if all of our creativity and innovation is called to task.  It is in those very times that the greatest feats of human accomplishment and heroism are performed.  What could you achieve if you just made up your mind to see success or die trying?  There are no back doors on the road to success.  You just keep moving forward no matter how small the steps you take.  Discovering your destiny and pursuing your purpose won’t always be easy, but it will be fulfilling.  Do yourself a solid…SWEAR to never give up!

#3 Power Principle – STEAL

It is a sad fact, that once we finish our formal education, few adults ever voluntarily pick up a text book again.  And yet, unless you are able to continuously replenish and refresh your wellspring of knowledge, the world will eventually pass you by.  We live in the “Information Age.”  Never before in the history of mankind have we had access to so much information and data.  Only those individuals who make a conscious decision to stay informed of trends and advances, will be able to stay ahead of the game in order to succeed. It is imperative, therefore, that you…STEAL some time to improve yourself!

#4 Power Principle – GAMBLE

I think it fascinating that so many people continue to play the lottery despite the fact that such a large percentage of lottery winners end up broke within a few years of cashing in on their prize.  According to the National Endowment for Financial Education, the percentage is right around 70%.  Yes, 70% of people who win a lottery or got a big cash windfall actually end up broke in about 5 years!  The chances of being a millionaire would have been better if these same people had simply taken the time to educate themselves about economics & finance.  Believe it or not, it is easier to make money than it is to keep money.  The fact is, unless you have the wisdom, understanding and discipline to MAKE a million dollars, you won’t have the wisdom, understanding or discipline to KEEP a million dollars.  That’s why if you are going to play the odds, then…GAMBLE on your own growth and development – that’s the only bet you can never lose!

#5 Power Principle – CHEAT

Our bodies are amazing machines.  We can literally trash and abuse them for about 20 to 30 years before causing irreparable damage.  What good is being successful if you won’t be alive to enjoy it!  When I say this, I am absolutely preaching to myself!  Like so many, I too struggle with my weight but the idea of going to the gym after a long day at work, is not in the forefront of my thinking.  However, it is also true that what you value, you take care of.  I would never think about going a week without brushing my teeth – because I value their strength and health!!  That same value system needs to be applied to our overall health.  How sad to think of all the beauty, creativity and innovation that has died before its time.  What could have been passed on that might have benefited our future?  Let’s not be selfish and take all our wisdom, gifts, talents, skills and abilities to the grave.  Let’s…CHEAT death by keeping healthy.

#6 Power Principle – KILL

When it comes to expanding our horizons, stretching further, and up-leveling our productivity, we can be our own worst enemies.  We look in the mirror in the morning and immediately run down a lists of everything that’s wrong – and that’s before we’ve even left the house!  We need to learn how to encourage ourselves.  We expect bosses, managers and colleagues to praise our efforts and give us a pat on the back for a job well done.  If that acknowledgment doesn’t come, then we are ready to throw in towel on all our hopes and dreams. An important lesson in life is to learn that there won’t always be people around to provide recognition.  You may be the ONLY one who appreciates your efforts, better to learn how to…KILL every negative thought and self-doubt that could sabotage your dreams.

#7 Power Principle – LIE

What is it about the human condition, that makes us such pessimists?  We have a tendency to believe that everybody else must have it better than we do.  A friend recently shared an email with me stating, that among other things, if you have some spare change in your purse, pocket, wallet, bank account or even just a bowl at home, then you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy!  Yes, the TOP 8%!  Wow, that really puts things into perspective!  We are often like Dorothy in the Land of Oz – always looking outside of ourselves for something that can only be found within.  Ambition, vision and will are always in your present possession.  Start where you are, with what you have, and go from there.  When the challenges seem too overwhelming…LIE in bed at night and count your blessings!

Well there you have it.  7 power principles to live by.  I hope you will take up the challenge and Drink, Swear, Steal, Gamble, Cheat, Kill and Lie your way to success!

  1. I do agree with all of the ideas you have presented in your post. They’re very convincing and will definitely work. Still, the posts are too short for beginners. Could you please extend them a little from next time? Thanks for the post.

  2. I was just looking for this information for some time. After six hours of continuous Googleing, at last I got it in your site. I wonder what’s the lack of Google strategy that don’t rank this kind of informative web sites in top of the list. Usually the top websites are full of garbage.

  3. Howdy! I could have sworn I’ve been to this site before but after reading through some of the post I realized it’s new to me. Anyways, I’m definitely glad I found it and I’ll be book-marking and checking back often!

  4. Thanks , I’ve just been looking for info about this topic for ages and yours is the best I have discovered so far. But, what about the bottom line? Are you sure about the source?
